Local Craft Brewers in the Spotlight
Hemisfair’s Third Brewsday to host SA Beer Week Official Closing Ceremony

SAN ANTONIO, TX (MAY 7, 2013)—The locals have spoken, and Hemisfair has listened. Hemisfair has partnered with six local breweries to host the closing ceremonies of San Antonio Beer Week 2013 on Tuesday, May 21 at the regularly scheduled Third Brewsday pop-up beer garden from 5-9pm. In contrast to previous Brewsdays, this Beer Week celebration will offer free craft beer samples to of-age guests all night long and a chance to mingle with the brewers themselves!
“The opportunity to be included in San Antonio Beer Week is outstanding and illustrates the public’s love for Hemisfair,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation. “Hemisfair will be home to a variety of community celebrations once redevelopment unveils one of the world’s great public spaces. Brewsday is just a taste.”

San Antonio Beer Week is dedicated to celebrating local beer and the community that enjoys it. Over fifteen tasty brews from Ranger Creek, The Granary Cue and Brew, Branchline, Freetail, Blue Star, and Alamo Breweries will be flowing from the tap, while the San Antonio Cerveseros talk shop on home brewing. Cryin’ DT Buffkin and the Bad Breath will be singing southern blues while visitors play washers on the lawn. Bite Street Bistro, Ridiculously Gourmet, and Lagniappe Today food trucks will all be serving up delicious grub to compliment the tasty brews, and guests should arrive early for a commemorative tasting mug.

Third Brewsday at Hemisfair, will be held on May 21st, from 5:00-9:00PM at the South Alamo Street entrance to Hemisfair. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for optimal outdoor relaxation. This will be the last Third Brewsday to make way for Movies by Moonlight and the summer heat. (Don’t worry; we will sound an alarm when the tradition starts back up again.)

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking for designated drivers will be available at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters starting at 5:00PM. Hemisfair also encourages the use of public transportation. For more information on Downtown Tuesday, including a map of free parking, visit www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/downtowntuesday.aspx.

Celebrate Third Brewsday on San Antonio’s Front Lawn

Third Brewsday, San Antonio’s only pop-up beer garden every third Tuesday of the month, is rolling into Spring on Tuesday, April 16th with lawn games to remember. In conjunction with Downtown Tuesday, this month’s Brewsday visitors will be able to experience the thrill of 360 degrees by crawling, walking, or running inside a 6-foot inflatable ball. For those who prefer to stay right-side-up during Happy Hour, frisbee, washers, giant jenga, and free flipbooks will also be offered on the lawn.

Brewsday guests will also enjoy a complimentary taste of Summer Shandy.®, one of Leinenkugel Brewery’s seasonal beers while listening to live music by San Antonio indi-folk band El Campo, who recently rocked it as an official artist at SXSW. In addition to beer sampling, food trucks like Winner Winner Chicken Dinner and the Rickshaw Stop will feature delights like crispy jalapeno marinated chicken tenders and Bihari kebabs.

“San Antonians savor the few weeks of mild Spring weather, and what better place to do that than at Hemisfair—San Antonio’s Front Porch,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation. “Events like Brewsday bring the community together to celebrate downtown San Antonio’s transformation from good to great.”
Third Brewsday at Hemisfair, sponsored by Glazer’s Distributors will be held on April 16th, from 5:00-9:00PM at the South Alamo Street entrance to Hemisfair. Of-age guests can enjoy complimentary beer tastings while they last, and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for optimal outdoor relaxation.

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking for designated drivers will be available at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters starting at 5:00PM.

Hemisfair Celebrates Contemporary Art Month with Dueling Artists
Third Brewsday to Host 3rd Annual Blue Moon Art Project

In conjunction with this month’s buzzing art theme, downtown’s favorite pop-up beer garden will host the 2013 Blue Moon Art Project at Third Brewsday, March 19. Artists will begin the event at 5:00PM with a blank 24” x 18” canvas, and have three hours to create their interpretation of San Antonio’s Urban Transformation while incorporating the Blue Moon logo. Winners will be announced after 8:30PM. First prize: a full page ad in the San Antonio Current, a gallery showing, and cash prizes. Runners up will also receive cash and gift cards, and the public will have the chance to vote for the People’s Choice Winner during the event.

Brewsday visitors will be able to stroll down the artist promenade while listening to live music by local alternative band Education and sipping on Blue Moon brews. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase participating artists’ works and to take home complimentary souvenir flipbooks at the event. Don’t forget the free beer tasting offered up by the Glazer’s Brew Crew experts, and the opportunity to learn about brewing your own beer at home from the San Antonio Cerveseros.

“We love the extemporaneous nature of the Blue Moon Art Project and are thrilled to host the event at Hemisfair during Contemporary Art Month. Art is fundamental to the vision of Hemisfair and will be integrated into every phase, design, and decision we make during redevelopment,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation.
In collaboration with the City’s Downtown Tuesday initiative and Glazer’s Distributors, Third Brewsday is held every third Tuesday of the month from 5:00-9:00PM at the S. Alamo entrance to Hemisfair. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to soak up live music from Education, while gobbling up eclectic fare from the DUK Truck and more.

Third Brewsday Cooking Up an Early Mardi Gras
Pop-up Beer Garden to Take on Monthly Themes

On the third Tuesday of December, Hemisfair started a new San Antonio tradition inviting the public to enjoy complimentary live music and beer tastings in conjunction with the City’s Downtown Tuesday initiative. With support from Glazer’s Distributors, Third Brewsday organizers plan to grow the event every third Tuesday of the month by featuring fun and enticing themes for the music, food, and brews. January’s Early Mardi Gras theme will feature excellent ragtime jazz, Cajun and Creole food trucks, and Abita Beers — sure to heat up even the chilliest of winter nights.

“It was exciting to see almost a thousand visitors from all over the city at our first Brewsday enjoying Hemisfair. Events like this are an opportunity to attract locals, encourage downtown vibrancy, and remind the public that Hemisfair belongs to everyone,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation. “Once Hemisfair is transformed, we will have a world-class civic space to program all types of activities. There will truly be something for everyone.”

Third Brewsday at Hemisfair, sponsored by Glazer’s Distributors will be held on January 15th, from 5:00-9:00PM at the South Alamo Street entrance to Hemisfair. Of-age guests can enjoy a complimentary tasting of the following Abita brews while they last: Mardi Gras Bock, Restoration Pale Ale, Amber, Purple Haze, and Jockamo IPA. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to soak up live music from Cryin’ D.T. Buffkin and the Bad Breath, while feasting at food trucks, including tasty Louisiana cuisine from Lagniappe Today and Where Y’at.

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking for designated drivers will be available at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters starting at 5:00PM. Hemisfair also encourages the use of public transportation.

Hemisfair to Host Free Monthly Beer Tastings
Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) and Glazer’s Distributors are teaming up to produce a pop-up beer garden on the third Tuesday of each month beginning December 18th. The new San Antonio tradition will feature live music, gourmet food trucks and complimentary seasonal beer samplings to suit different monthly themes. With Hemisfair recently bejeweled for the Mayor’s Light Up Downtown contest, December’s “Spread the Cheer” theme will showcase country music and new brews from the Tenth & Blake Brewery, sure to charm even the grumpiest of holiday scrooges.

“By taking advantage of the City’s Downtown Tuesday free-parking initiative, we aim to attract locals and their lawn chairs from all zip codes to mingle at Hemisfair, San Antonio’s front porch,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of HPARC. “We hope that Third Brewsday at Hemisfair becomes a beloved community engagement, encourages vitality downtown, and helps us transform San Antonio.”

The very first Third Brewsday sponsored by Glazer’s Distributors will be held on Tuesday, December 18 from 5:00-9:00PM at the S. Alamo entrance to Hemisfair. Of-age guests can enjoy a complimentary tasting of the following artisanal brews while they last: Batch 19, Henry Weinhard’s, Redd’s Apple Ale, and Third Shift. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and soak up live music from Texas Country artists Gabe Garcia, Mario Flores, and Chris Salinas.

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking for designated drivers will be available at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters starting at 5:00PM. Hemisfair also encourages the use of public transportation. For more information on Downtown Tuesday including a map of free parking, visit: www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/downtowntuesday.aspx.

Hemisgear online store now open!
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (NOVEMBER 12, 2012)—Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation (HPARC) is setting a new trend. Now the public can show support for Hemisfair’s transformation by sporting their very own Hemisgear. Starting November 12, HPARC will launch their virtual store via Café Press at www.cafepress.com/hemisgear.

In the past year, San Antonians backed Hemisfair’s revitalization as a cornerstone of Mayor Castro and Council’s SA2020 Vision by approving the Hemisfair Master Plan and voting for the 2012 Bond. “We hope our new merchandizing effort will mobilize supporters and signify the personal connection between the people of San Antonio and the future of Hemisfair,” said Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair. A portion of sales go to Hemisfair non-profit, and the apparel will be a way for fans to spread excitement of what’s to come.

Over twenty items are available for purchase featuring nine variations of the Hemisfair logo, from baby onesies to iPhone cases. The site launches in time for Cyber Monday’s online shopping frenzy.
